Rhea F. Law
President,
University of South Florida
Trust your instincts. Leap boldly. The path will appear.
My Story
As the eighth, and first alumna, President of the University of South Florida, Rhea F. Law embodies leadership built on bold decisions, deep integrity, and lifelong service to her community. A fifth-generation Floridian and proud USF graduate, Law’s journey from research project administrator to university president is a testament to her belief in the power of education and self-determination.
At 29, Rhea took a leap of faith, leaving a stable job to attend law school. It was risky, but she trusted her instincts. That bold choice laid the foundation for a storied legal career and taught her that courage is often the first step toward purpose. Now, with over three decades of experience as a legal and civic leader, including her tenure as CEO and Chair of the Board at one of Florida’s top law firms, Law has played a pivotal role in shaping public policy, economic development, and higher education in the state. Today, Rhea finds joy in new adventures, from discovering a love for lacrosse to embracing the thrill of
high-speed experiences like flying with the Blue Angels or racing motorcycles.
What makes her happiest?
“Helping others realize their potential. Whether it’s a student walking across the commencement stage or a colleague stepping into their power, there’s nothing more
rewarding than knowing you were part of someone’s journey toward greatness.”
Advice to Her Younger Self
“Be brave. That leap you’re afraid to take might just lead to the most fulfilling chapter of your life. Trust your instincts, even if no one else sees your vision yet. You do.”
