My Story
South African by birth and purpose-driven by design, Natasha Nascimento is a woman who moves with both tenderness and tenacity. As the Founding CEO of Redefining Refuge, she has built a life grounded in advocacy, faith, and fierce love for the invisible and unheard. Based in Tampa, Natasha has led her organization from a humble grassroots effort into a nationally recognized platform for child protection and policy reform; operating at the very heart of the fight against human trafficking.
In 2025, her team supported a U.S. Marshal led multi- agency operation that recovered 60 missing children; a historic milestone that reflects the urgency and heartbreak of this work, as well as the power of community collaboration when lives are on the line.
Anchored by an unshakable belief that no child should ever be forgotten, Natasha has spent over a decade championing survivors, shaping legislation, and standing in the gap with compassion and conviction. Her impact is felt not only in courtrooms and policy rooms, but in the quiet, sacred, soul stretching moments when healing begins for these children.
What makes her the happiest?
Deep human (and fur baby) connection. Whether she’s laughing with her family, snuggling with her Chief Eating Officer (her Golden Retriever, Bodhi), dancing off steam to house music, or watching a survivor take their first brave steps toward healing, Natasha finds joy in authenticity and impact. For her, purpose and play are equally sacred.
What advice would she give her younger self?
Trust your instincts fiercely and value your unique perspective unabashedly. At 43, Natasha looks back at her younger self with pride and encouragement; remindin her that approval isn’t the goal. Impact is. And that the fire and playfulness she carries now was always within her.
