"You’re shaped bywhat you choose to learn and overcome".
My Story
From decoding intelligence in the U.S. Army to decoding data at Citi, Katrina Scolaro’s journey is nothing short of transformational. Her story begins with eight years of service in military intelligence, supporting high-level classified operations for federal agencies. She didn’t just catch “bad guys”, she built discipline, grit, and tactical precision that would later shape her corporate career.
What followed was a meteoric rise, consulting for Booz Allen Hamilton, completing a certificate in applied data science from MIT, and launching her own business, The Ruby Group. Today, as a Senior Vice President at Citi Group and a global data owner, Katrina sits at the intersection of strategy, technology, and leadership, driving efficiency and purpose across teams.
But what’s even more inspiring is her evolution. She once avoided math and technical roles out of fear. Now, she thrives in data science, proving that reinvention is always possible. Whether walking her golden retriever, painting to unwind, or mentoring others through the Junior League of St. Petersburg, Katrina continues to give it her all with her heart and courage.
What makes her the happiest?
True happiness, for Katrina, lies in meaningful connections. She believes joy is amplified when shared with a close- knit circle that nurtures authenticity and growth.
What advice would she give her younger self?
Don’t let fear make decisions for you. Embrace the hard stuff, especially the math! Stretch your limits, save early, and build a life that challenges and fulfills you. Confidence isn’t a prerequisite, it’s a reward for showing up again and again. Keep going. You’re stronger than you think.
