Amber Lahue

ASL Interpreter | Realtor | Director, 70x7 Housing Foundation

"Don’t put things off, just do it and see what you can accomplish".

My Story

Amber Suzanne LaHue grew up in a small town in Florida and has built a life dedicated to serving others through many roles. She works virtually as an ASL interpreter for medical appointments, helps families achieve their dream of homeownership as a Realtor, and leads the 70x7 Housing Foundation, a nonprofit providing transitional housing for veterans, people in recovery, and those transitioning from incarceration or homelessness.

Her connection to the Deaf community is personal, her husband is Deaf, and they met in college where she first started learning ASL. They’ve been married 26 years and have three sons, ages 18, 16, and 12. Once an art major, Amber’s busy life with three jobs, a family, and six cats leaves little time for painting, but she finds deep fulfillment in her work and the nonprofit they built as a legacy for their children.

Amber’s proudest achievement is bringing the nonprofit dream to life. Despite many challenges, she completed every step needed to open their first transitional home. She believes growth comes from embracing new challenges and learning constantly.

What makes her the happiest?

“Being with the people I love. And seeing them happy. That’s it.” She enjoys sharing meals and conversations with friends. And above all, she is driven by love, service and a desire to help others build better lives.

Advice to Her Younger Self

“Don’t wait because something seems hard. Just start. You’ll surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.”
